Job summary

Johnson & Johnson MedTech in Puerto Rico seeks a Process Engineering Co-Op to support manufacturing and drive process improvement. This full-time, year-long program runs January–December 2027 in San Lorenzo.

• Completion of undergraduate freshman year required.
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical/electrical/industrial/manufacturing or related field.
• GPA 3.5+ across coursework.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a team setting.

Responsibilities

• Support and execute engineering projects of low to medium complexity.
• Identify process improvements to increase efficiency and throughput.
• Perform root-cause analysis and implement CAPAs.
• Assist in process validation and validation protocols.
• Manage Non-Conformance Quality Actions from start to finish.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals.
• Analyze manufacturing data and suggest waste reduction ideas.
• Support Lean and Six Sigma continuous improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate communications with equipment suppliers.
• Develop and present innovative manufacturing solutions.

We are searching for the best talent for Process Engineering Co-Op to be in PR San Lorenzo.

• The Co-op term is from January to December, 2027.
• Full time requirement (40 hours per week).

Purpose

As a Process Engineering Co-Op, you will support manufacturing and process improvement initiatives within Ethicon San Lorenzo. The role focuses on driving operational excellence through process optimization, project execution, quality improvements, data analysis, and implementation of engineering solutions while ensuring compliance with GMP, ISO, safety, and regulatory requirements.

You Will Be Responsible For

• Supporting and executing engineering projects of low to medium complexity.
• Identifying process improvement opportunities to increase efficiency, throughput, and productivity.
• Performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
• Supporting process validation activities and developing validation protocols.
• Managing and supporting Non-Conformance (NC) Quality Actions from initiation through completion.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure project objectives are achieved.
• Analyzing manufacturing data and recommending improvements to reduce waste, downtime, and costs.
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and problem-solving methodologies.
• Coordinating communications between Ethicon San Lorenzo and equipment manufacturers or suppliers.
• Developing and presenting innovative solutions to improve manufacturing processes.Ensuring compliance with GMP, ISO, environmental, safety, and occupational health standards.

Qualifications / Requirements

• Completion of Undergraduate Freshman year at an accredited University is required.
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related engineering field
• Have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, reflective of all college coursework.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.

• Basic knowledge of CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar)

• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis, GMP, and Quality Systems is preferred.
