Job summary

Gusto, a nationwide company delivering payroll, health insurance, 401(k) and HR solutions, seeks a tech-savvy sales-oriented professional. After training, you will help small business owners set up payroll and HR, entering past information and guiding them through state tax guidelines.

You’ll build a foundation in payroll, tax, and compliance while developing consultative sales skills, with opportunities to advance into Implementations and Solutions Engineering.

Qualifications

• 1+ years in a high-volume sales or customer service role with cross-selling or quotas.
• Willingness to learn a new industry and payroll/tax basics.
• Customer-obsessed with consultative selling and trust-building.
• Adaptable problem-solver who thrives on change.
• Experience with AI tools and providing actionable feedback.

Responsibilities

• Handle high-volume customer interactions via phone and email from onboarding to first payroll.
• Own ticket queue and manage opportunity pipeline.
• Suggest plan upgrades and surface cross-sell opportunities for Health Insurance, Workers' Comp, and 401(k).
• Diagnose tax discrepancies and navigate state portals.
• Configure compliance policies and work with Risk team.
• Leverage AI-powered workflows in daily tasks.
