The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled Technical Manager to join the Walbridge team. In this role, you will act as the technical expert for a specific discipline to ensure all related construction activities are performed in accordance with accepted professional standards. You will work to solve complex technical field-related problems, manage the equipment startup, and commissioning process (V-Start). You’ll assist in the implementation of the project’s 4-phase quality control plan and monitor field construction of mechanical and/or electrical subcontractors for schedule management and conformance to contract documents.

Location

You can live in any US city if you are able to travel 100%.

Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities

  • Develop critical path schedule: Develop MEP critical path schedule, work with subcontractors and design team to provide conflict resolution for MEP issues.
  • Procurement & bid process: Manage equipment procurement process, track and coordinate deliveries. Assist with bidding mechanical and electrical trades.
  • CX and Startup: Manage startup and pretesting of mechanical and electrical systems. Coordinate and document quality control and third-party commissioning activities.
  • Coordinate Trades & Documentation: Coordinate and track critical path construction, review mechanical and electrical submittals.

Qualifications

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • 4-year engineering degree in appropriate discipline or equivalent combinations of technical training and related experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years extensive experience related to electrical / mechanical discipline. Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction technology, equipment, materials, methods, required.
  • Capable of leading and scheduling MEP activities.
  • Preconstruction and equipment procurement experience preferred.
  • Ability to accept project assignments that may require extended long-term temporary living arrangements or frequent travel to non-local job sites.
  • A valid driver’s license in the US and a valid passport required; willingness and ability to travel; travel is estimated at 70+%.
