Job summary

WSP is seeking a Lead Underground Paste Backfill Engineer in Salt Lake City, UT, with consideration for Reno or Elko, NV. You will guide the underground paste backfill scope, interfacing with surface plants, mining operations and Owner teams to deliver safe, reliable projects.

You will oversee design criteria, reviews, HAZOPs, and risk assessments, while coordinating with surface and underground teams to meet schedule and budget goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or related field.
• PE or P.Eng designation preferred.
• 8+ years mining project experience incl. underground mining and paste backfill.
• Experience leading engineering teams on major capital projects.
• Strong understanding of EPCM project delivery and multidisciplinary mgmt.
• Ability to perform engineering computations and design reviews.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, execution and delivery of underground paste backfill engineering activities.
• Manage multidisciplinary engineering teams, consultants and resources.
• Monitor progress, budgets, forecasts, schedules and deliverables.
• Coordinate interfaces between mining, process, mechanical, piping, electrical, controls, geotechnical and construction.
• Support project controls, risk management, change management and reporting.
• Drive commissioning strategies and readiness for operations.
