The Technical Lead will perform and coordinate complex screening activities, serve as a subject-matter resource, assist with screening decisions and equipment use, maintain operational readiness, troubleshoot routine technical and process issues, and ensure screening activities comply with approved procedures. Limited technical/task oversight of up to three FTE may be assigned.

What You'll Do:
  • Perform and technically coordinate day-to-day secondary screening operations.
  • Ensure mail and packages requiring secondary screening are properly identified, staged, screened, documented, and released.
  • Maintain proper separation of unscreened, screened/cleared, held, suspicious or incident-controlled, and specially controlled material.
  • Ensure required screening is completed before packages enter normal distribution.
  • Monitor compliance with screening procedures, PPE requirements, package-handling standards, and chain-of-custody requirements.
  • Ensure package-tracking records accurately reflect physical movement and custody.
  • Verify required receipt, checkpoint, transfer, delivery, and exception documentation.
  • Conduct quality-control reviews of screening, staging, package condition, tracking transactions, inspection markings, and custody transfers.
  • Coordinate direct handoffs of sensitive, priority, Director, executive-level, and other Government-designated material.
  • Provide technical demonstrations, OJT support, refresher training, and qualification assistance.
  • Identify technical training gaps and recommend focused retraining.
  • Maintain visibility over packages placed on hold and ensure each has a known location, status, responsible owner, and next action.
  • Coordinate screening-related activities with Receiving, Shipping, Mailroom, Drivers/Couriers, Middle Team, Supply Technicians, supervisors, and Government personnel.
  • Immediately report significant screening, safety, package-accountability, or equipment issues.
  • Assist with incident documentation, package-history reviews, and corrective-action follow-up.
  • Maintain an organized, controlled, and operationally ready secondary screening area.
  • Serve as the senior technical resource for recognizing and responding to suspicious or potentially hazardous mail and packages.
  • Reinforce stop-work requirements and established procedures when suspicious or unresolved conditions are identified.
  • Monitor screening equipment readiness and report alarms, malfunctions, or abnormal conditions.
  • Operate, support, or provide technical oversight for authorized X-ray, biological, chemical, radiation, RF/RFID, package-tracking, and other Government-approved screening systems following required training and authorization.
  • Provide limited task direction and technical oversight for a Secondary Screening team of up to three FTE, when assigned.
  • Coordinate daily screening assignments and priorities.
  • Monitor workload, equipment availability, and technical coverage.
  • Provide technical coaching, procedural guidance, and hands-on assistance.
  • Support technical onboarding, OJT, and qualification of screening personnel.
What You Bring:

Required:
