Job summary

6 Degrees Search is seeking a Technical Designer in New York, NY, to join our team on-site. You will develop detailed tech packs, manage BOMs, and participate in fit sessions to ensure quality, fit, and construction across women’s apparel.

You will collaborate with Design, Product Development, Production, and external partners to resolve construction challenges, balance aesthetics and manufacturability, and uphold brand standards from concept to production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or Technical Design or a related field.
• 3–5 years of Technical Design experience within apparel.
• Experience with women's apparel; outerwear/activewear preferred.
• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and CAD software.
• Strong garment construction, patternmaking, grading, and fit evaluation.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed tech packs with sketches, measurements, grading, construction details, and specs.
• Create and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs), packaging, care labels, carton markings, and related docs.
• Conduct fit sessions using live models and communicate revisions to vendors.
• Review prototypes and pre-production garments with pattern makers and manufacturers.
• Ensure samples meet standards for fit, quality, construction, and design intent.
• Identify development challenges and propose practical, manufacturable solutions.
• Collaborate with Design, Product Development, Production, and external partners to execute projects.
• Help ensure timelines, quality expectations, and brand standards are met.
