Job summary

Babcock & Wilcox is seeking a Technical Designer III to support engineering teams in Akron, OH. The role focuses on 3D modeling and detailing of burner, pulverizer, and related equipment for industrial power systems.

You will collaborate with engineers, proposal managers, project managers, and shop personnel, preparing drawings and BOMs while ensuring adherence to design standards and schedules.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical degree in Drafting, Design Technology, Mechanical Design, or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and drafting standards.
• Experience creating detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Use CAD (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and/or E3D) to prepare basic drawings, 3D models, and assembly details.
• Calculate expansion movements and clearances for equipment and components.
• Translate design requirements from CAD data, contracts, and customer specs into product design.
• Determine views and orientation on drawings for effective information.
• develop BOMs and raw material requirements for procurement per fabrication needs.
