Job summary

Babcock & Wilcox in Akron, OH seeks a Proposal Specialist to lead cross-functional teams in delivering best-in-class proposals for new and retrofit package boiler projects.

You will collaborate with engineering, legal, supply chain and sales to develop bid-winning technical and commercial strategies, scope of supply, schedule and cost, and to write and produce superior proposal documents that win bids across multiple boiler systems.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and understanding of package boiler products and systems.
• Familiarity with commercial contracting and B&W contracting guidelines.
• Technical background in utility and/or heavy industrial industries.
• Strong organizational, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work under high pressure.
• Willingness to commit time outside regular hours and some weekends.

Responsibilities

• Lead proposal teams and coordinate activities across functions for timely submissions.
• Produce budgets and organize periodic status updates and reviews.
• Review customer specs and prepare exceptions while preserving competitive advantage.
• Outline technical and commercial positions with Engineering, Legal, Supply Chain, and others.
• Develop initial Project Execution Plan and Price Approval documentation.
• Obtain approvals for pricing and contract positions; assess risks.
• Collaborate with Project Development during post-bid follow-up.
• Ensure smooth transition of information to the project team after award.
• May manage engineering studies or paid proposal contracts.
• Maintain proposal project information in Salesforce.
