Job summary

Our client in industrial gas detection and automation seeks an Assistant Technical Applications Manager. The role blends engineering, hands-on field support, and solution design to drive field installations, commissioning, and ongoing technical support.

The successful candidate will lead design activities, work with customers across project lifecycles, and contribute to product development and continuous improvement in challenging industrial environments.

Qualifications

10+ years of experience in applications engineering, controls, automation, field engineering, or related technical environment.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
Hands-on experience with industrial installations, startup, commissioning, and customer-site support.
Experience programming/troubleshooting Allen-Bradley and/or IDEC PLCs and HMIs.
Strong knowledge of Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP.
Knowledge of industrial signals (4–20mA, 0–5V, 0–10V, relay logic).
Understanding of electrical systems, wiring, schematics, components, and circuit theory.
Experience with diagnostic equipment (DMM, oscilloscopes, test equipment).
Ability to safely perform voltage/current/continuity measurements in industrial environments.
Mechanical aptitude with fluid flow and pneumatic systems.
Ability to diagnose complex electrical/electronic/automation issues.
Knowledge of hazardous-location installations (Class I/II/III) is a plus.
Excellent communication to lead technical discussions, training, and presentations.

Responsibilities

Serve as a senior technical resource for gas detection, automation, and control system applications.
Develop practical, customized technical solutions with customers.
Lead system design: control architecture, automation strategies, communications, instrumentation, integration.
Configure, program, troubleshoot, and support PLCs, HMIs, networks, and communication systems.
Manage technical projects through design, testing, installation, startup, and commissioning.
Coordinate with sales, engineering, production, field service, and product teams.
Develop technical proposals, system documentation, operating manuals, and compliance materials.
Perform product and system testing, verification, validation, and troubleshooting.
Collaborate with design engineers to identify field issues and product enhancements.
Provide on-site commissioning, startup support, troubleshooting, and technical support at customer sites.
Train customers on operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and best practices.
Conduct product demonstrations and technical presentations for customers and teams.
Review field service reports for accuracy and status.
Coordinate field service resources based on project needs and priorities.
Establish and maintain application engineering procedures and standards.
Mentor and guide application engineers and technical staff.
Drive continuous improvement for product quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
