Job summary

Buckingham Search is seeking a Technical Accounting Manager for a leading publicly traded hospitality company in Chicago, IL. You will lead impairment and fair value analyses, oversee technical accounting memos, and support quarterly and annual SEC filings.

The ideal candidate holds a CPA, has at least 6 years of accounting or public accounting experience, strong research capabilities, and clear communication skills to explain complex conclusions to finance leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Active CPA license required.
• At least 6 years of accounting and/or public accounting experience.
• Technical accounting experience preferred.
• Experience with SEC reporting and disclosures preferred.
• Familiarity with ERP/reporting systems; Hyperion a plus.
• Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Research complex accounting matters under U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations and prepare memoranda documenting conclusions.
• Partner with Corporate Accounting, Financial Reporting and other stakeholders to evaluate and report complex transactions.
• Lead or review quarterly and annual impairment assessments and credit loss analyses.
• Oversee and review periodic fair value assessments and related accounting conclusions.
• Prepare and review disclosures for quarterly and annual SEC filings (Forms 10-Q/10-K).
• Review disclosure checklists to ensure GAAP/SEC compliance.
• Develop materials and analyses for Audit Committee meetings.
• Evaluate new/amended contracts and advise on accounting treatment.
• Monitor new and amended accounting standards and assist implementation.
• Coach, supervise, and mentor senior accounting staff.
• Support continuous improvement in technical accounting and reporting processes.
