Job summary

Scientific Games is seeking a Manager of Tech Ops Engineering to oversee the reliability and performance of lottery systems and related platforms. You will lead a team of Tech Ops Engineers across multiple jurisdictions, coordinating incidents, deployments, and process improvements.

The role requires a strong IT operations background, 5+ years of technical management, and experience with Linux, virtualization, containers, and storage.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in computer science or related field required; bachelor’s degree preferred
• Minimum 5 years of progressive technical management experience, supporting enterprise-scale transactional platforms
• Experience in the lottery and gaming industry is considered an asset
• On call 24x7 for operational support
• Knowledge of ITIL best practices for incident and problem management
• Proficiency with Linux operating systems
• Knowledge of data storage and management systems including relational and non-relational databases
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Podman, Kubernetes)
• Solid understanding of virtualization (VMware) and SAN
• Solid understanding of network communications fundamentals
• Experience with hiring and managing employee performance
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
• Ability to communicate with all levels of management
• Comfortable collaborating across distributed teams
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly
• Strong time management skills

Responsibilities

• Continuously monitors online system performance and reports anomalies to management and support teams
• Provides tier-2 incident support and coordinates resolution until fully resolved
• Ensures timely communication of incidents to the Lottery as required
• Leads Site Team’s participation in projects, ensuring tasks are completed on time and meet quality standards
• Oversees development and maintenance of operational procedures to enhance efficiency and standardization
• Coordinates training on operational processes and best practices to maintain system reliability
• Manages deployment of software into production with minimal disruption
• Ensures regular patching and upgrades of OS, middleware, and applications in line with standards
• Team Management: hire, evaluate, mentor, and supervise Tech Ops Engineers and staff
• Communicates effectively with management to address and resolve operational challenges
• Provides backup support by filling in for absent team members
• Performs all other assigned duties
