Job summary

Chime is seeking an engineering leader to guide one of the Cards squads within the SSI organization. You will manage 4-5 engineers, own delivery end-to-end, and write code alongside your team. Embrace AI-driven tooling and mentor engineers toward higher roles within a fast-paced fintech environment.

You will partner with Product and Design, drive architectural decisions, and help maintain operational health and a strong on-call culture. This is a hands-on leadership role at Chime.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in people management and team leadership.
• Hands-on coding and desire to continue coding today.
• Experience using AI-assisted tools (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor).
• Coaching team members on execution, skills and progression.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration with Product, Design, Analytics.
• Interest in pushing technology and organization boundaries.
• Experience with Ruby, React Native, distributed systems, AWS.
• Ability to drive delivery under aggressive schedules.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop a squad of 4-5 engineers: Hiring, 1:1s, career coaching, performance.
• Own end-to-end delivery from planning through SLAs and health.
• Write and ship code alongside the team; review PRs landing in production.
• Own squad technical direction, architecture, and quality bar.
• Leverage AI tooling to raise team leverage and establish durable practices.
• Partner with Product and Design on scope, prioritization, and planning.
• Act as cross-functional contact for technical capabilities and dependencies.
• Identify tech debt and advocate for sustainable engineering.
• Ensure quality, performance, and on-call health across the squad.
• Build growth paths toward higher IC levels or TLM roles.
• Contribute to SSI and Chime engineering initiatives as a leadership team member.
