Job summary

Chime Financial, Inc. is seeking a senior engineering leader for the Lending org to own technical direction and mentor engineers. You will drive architecture, code quality, and delivery while hiring and developing a high-performing squad.

You’ll work with Product, Analytics, Marketing, Design, and Data leaders to ship features that unlock value for millions of members. This role blends ownership with hands-on coding and strategic leadership.

Qualifications

• Direct experience in lending, payments, or other regulated financial/transactional systems.
• Managed engineers directly with full people-management ownership (1:1s, coaching, performance feedback, promotions).
• Use AI coding tools and workflows as a core part of building and leading teams; introduce AI-driven practices to improve velocity.
• Able to tie-break technical disagreements and balance speed with durability under delivery pressure.
• Bias toward ownership and action; responsible for what ships and team health.

Responsibilities

• Author and ship scoped, incremental features hands-on.
• Own squad's technical direction, architecture, and code quality; lead design reviews and planning.
• Identify technical debt and advocate for sustainable engineering practices.
• Provide full people management for 3–5 direct reports, including coaching and promotions decisions.
• Drive hiring and staffing for the squad, building an inclusive, high-performing team.
