Job summary

South Western Communications is seeking a Technician 1 to install, troubleshoot and maintain electronic communication systems, with a focus on VOIP, data networks and related disciplines. This full-time, hourly position includes a comprehensive benefits package and 401k.

You will handle on-site duties, read wiring diagrams, operate test equipment and manage customer communications. The role requires a two-year electronics education or equivalent, plus hands-on experience and certifications as

Qualifications

• Two-year electronics degree or equivalent plus 1+ years related field experience.
• Experience with installation, testing and troubleshooting of equipment/systems.
• Experience with VoIP, telephony, data networks, wireless data, fire alarm, CCTV, sound systems, or nurse call applications preferred.
• Cisco and Microsoft certifications desirable.
• Ability to install a project from engineering documents with minimal assistance.
• Ability to manage small to large projects with little supervision.

Responsibilities

• Final hookup and programming of electronics equipment for new jobs.
• Respond to customer service-related issues promptly.
• Test and document readings for customer systems.
• Update customer files and progress.
• Troubleshoot and repair electronic components.
• Handle on-call duties on a regular scheduled basis.
• Train and instruct customers on equipment usage.
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
• Operate test equipment (Voltmeter, Ohm Meter, Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyzer, Multi-meter).
• Assist with preventive maintenance of customer equipment.
• Track time sheets, service/installation tickets and inventory items.
• Safeguard spare parts, manuals & keys and sign off at end of project.
• Manage and motivate technicians; serve as onsite SWC representative when PM unavailable.
• Comply with safety programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
