Job summary

South Western Communications is seeking a Technician 1 to install, troubleshoot and maintain electronic communication systems, including VOIP, SIP, networking and related equipment. The Technician is responsible for on-site installations and servicing to minimize downtime and maximize performance, under the Project Manager.

The ideal candidate has a two-year electronics background or equivalent and hands-on experience with VoIP, data networks and related technologies. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Two-year electronics degree or equivalent plus 1+ year related field experience.
• Knowledge and experience in installation, testing and troubleshooting of equipment/systems.
• Experience with VoIP, telephony, data networks, wireless data, fire alarm, CCTV, sound systems, or nurse call applications; Cisco/Microsoft certs desirable.
• Ability to install a project from engineering documents with minimal supervision.
• Ability to manage small to large projects with little supervision.

Responsibilities

• Finalize hookup and programming of electronics equipment for new jobs.
• Respond promptly to service-related issues.
• Test and document readings for customer systems.
• Update customer files.
• Troubleshoot and repair electronic components.
• Handle on-call duties on a regular scheduled basis.
• Train and instruct the customer on proper use of the equipment.
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
• Operate test equipment: volt meter, ohm meter, oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, multimeter, impedance meter.
• Assist with preventive maintenance of customer equipment.
• Manage spare parts, manuals & keys and sign off at project end.
• Onsite SWC representative when Project Manager is unavailable.
• Ensure compliance with safety programs.
• Other duties as assigned.
