Job summary

Modern Machining Solutions Inc is seeking a Technical Designer in New York, NY, to join a team responsible for taking women's apparel from concept to production. You will develop tech packs, BOMs, and drive fit sessions, ensuring quality, fit, and construction meet brand standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or Technical Design or a related field.
• 3–5 years of technical design experience in apparel.
• Experience with women's apparel; outerwear/activewear preferred.
• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and CAD software.
• Solid garment construction, patternmaking, grading, and fit evaluation.
• Excellent attention to detail with precise measurement skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed tech packs with sketches, measurements, grading and specs.
• Create and manage BOMs, packaging, care labels, carton markings, and related docs.
• Conduct and participate in fit sessions using live models.
• Analyze fit, identify revisions, and communicate changes to vendors and teams.
• Review prototypes and pre-production garments with pattern makers and partners.
• Ensure samples meet standards for fit, quality, construction, and design intent.
• Identify development challenges and propose manufacturability and cost solutions.
• Collaborate with Design, Product Development, Production, and external partners.
• Help keep projects aligned with timelines, quality, and brand standards.
• Apply fabrics, trims, construction techniques expertise to support development.
• Promote consistent garment performance and customer satisfaction.
