Job summary

Hawthorne Cat is seeking a Tech 1 for our Hawaii Island (Hilo) service team. Under guidance of the Branch Operations Manager, the Tech 1 will perform repair, maintenance, and rebuilding tasks on Caterpillar equipment in shop or field settings, prioritizing safety and efficiency.

The role requires a high school diploma, valid driver's license, PC skills, forklift certification (or ability to obtain within 60 days), and ownership of suitable hand tools. Prior experience is preferred.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license with good record required.
• PC skills required.
• Forklift certification required or able to obtain within 60 days.
• Own hand tools required.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots mechanical problems in Caterpillar, allied products, and Ag & Turf and industrial products serviced by the service department.
• Makes warranty recommendations and prepares reports for warranty service jobs.
• Performs minor welding, fabrication, plumbing, and DC electric repairs.
• Attends training classes and achieves passing grades.
• Reconditions or overhauls major components to manufacturer’s specifications.
• Adheres to HPC safety, housekeeping, and other rules and procedures.
