This working lead role combines hands-on receiving activities with day-to-day leadership, including organizing incoming trucks and arrival times, unloading and staging materials for production, and accurately tracking incoming inventory in a computer-based system.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate a team of approximately 35 receiving associates on the dock, acting as the go-to person for drivers and the right hand to the department manager.

  • Organize incoming trucks, manage arrival times, and ensure efficient unloading and staging of materials for production.

  • Train, coach, and assist associates in performing all receiving activities, including proper use of equipment and adherence to procedures.

  • Operate sit-down forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment to unload trucks and move materials safely and efficiently.

  • Communicate proactively with truck drivers delivering loads, ensuring clear instructions and smooth dock operations.

  • Work closely with production leadership to plan and coordinate timely delivery of raw materials to the production area to support continuous operations.

  • Accurately complete all required paperwork and data entry related to incoming inventory, using an Excel-like or ERP-based tracking system.

  • Maintain accurate safety and environmental records, ensuring compliance with all relevant policies and procedures.

  • Perform cycle counts and verify the quality and quantity of incoming raw materials, addressing discrepancies and issues promptly.

  • Take responsibility for all associates in the receiving area during emergencies, ensuring they understand and follow response procedures for all types of emergency events.

  • Ensure associates meet Standard Work Instructions (SWI) and required personal protective equipment (PPE) standards at all times.

  • Conduct safety audits in the receiving area, propose corrective actions, and help implement improvements to enhance safety and efficiency.

  • Act as a working team lead by actively participating in unloading, staging, inventory control, and other hands-on tasks while providing daily direction to the team.

Essential Skills
  • Proven leadership experience, at minimum in a team lead or similar supervisory role within a receiving or warehouse environment.

  • Hands-on experience working on a receiving dock, including unloading trucks and communicating directly with drivers.

  • Proficiency operating sit-down forklifts and pallet jacks in a fast-paced manufacturing or warehouse setting.

  • Ability to stand for the entirety of the shift as needed.

  • Ability to lift 10 lbs regularly, 25 lbs frequently, and 50 lbs occasionally as part of daily duties.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in paperwork, data entry, safety records, and cycle counts.

  • Effective communication skills for coordinating with truck drivers, production leadership, and team members.

  • Commitment to safety, including performing safety audits and ensuring proper use of PPE and adherence to SWI.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Background in manufacturing environments, with an understanding of production deadlines and the importance of timely material delivery.

  • Experience using RF scanners for inventory tracking and order picking.

  • Knowledge of ERP software, SAP, or similar systems for inventory management and receiving processes.

  • Familiarity with international shipping procedures and documentation.

  • Experience with wrapping, palletizing, packing, sorting, order pulling, and order picking of parts and materials.

Why Work Here?

You will join a company that values internal growth and provides clear opportunities to advance from within. Employees benefit from very affordable benefits and enjoy two planned shutdowns each year along with generous paid time off. The organization supports work-life balance through structured schedules and offers short-term disability for hourly employees and long-term disability for salaried employees. In addition, there is a weekly attendance bonus and shift differential for off-shift work, rewarding reliability and flexibility in a supportive, team-oriented culture.

Work Environment

This role is based in a bright and organized manufacturing facility that operates efficiently, even though some production areas can be cramped due to the amount of equipment and materials on site. The shift runs from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with regular overtime that may include some weekends, and an expected workload of around 50 hours per week. The facility is not air conditioned, so temperatures near the machines can become hot during the summer months.
