Job summary

MCC in Chesapeake, VA is seeking a Finishing Department Lead for the 1st shift to guide daily finishing operations, supervise a small team, and ensure on-time, quality-conscious production. You will oversee timekeeping, performance reviews, and training, participate in special projects, and perform finishing duties including print and seam quality checks, splicing, and data entry in Radius.

A strong candidate has supervisory experience, solid problem-solving skills, and proficiency with MS

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
• Experience or knowledge of lithographic, flexographic, or digital printing preferred.
• Standing for long periods and lifting up to 50 pounds as required.

Responsibilities

We are currently looking for a Finishing Department Lead to join our team. This is a 1st Shift position.

Responsibilities:

• Oversees timekeeping, attendance, performance reviews, training, and development
• Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned
• Ability to perform Finishing Operator duties:
  • Continuously checks for print and seam quality.
  • Removes defective material and splices the roll web back together per the specification.
  • Utilizes a ruler, safety knife, and hole punch during splicing procedure (tools are used at other times as necessary).
  • Handles rolls and palletizes them accordingly as to not cause damage to them.
  • Must understand basic printing and seam related defects.
  • Recording and entering data on designated paperwork as well as in the company operation system (Radius)

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience or in-depth knowledge of lithographic, flexographic, or digital printing preferred
• The physical demands require standing, using hands to feel and touch; reach with arms and hands; talk and hear.
• This position requires frequent walking.
• Occasionally, employee is required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
• Must be able to regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds.
• Continuous eye concentration.
