Job summary

The University of Oregon is seeking an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Composition Program. This non-tenure-track, nine-month position begins September 16, 2026, with a 3-course per term load focused on WR 121, WR 122, and WR 123, teaching primarily lower-division writing to diverse student bodies.

We value culturally responsive teaching, collaboration on curriculum design, and ongoing professional development within a dynamic English department. Background check required.

Qualifications

• MA in Rhetoric and Composition, or a closely related field.
• Two years' experience teaching college-level writing to first-year students.
• Experience collaborating on student-centered, inclusive curriculum design.

Responsibilities

• Teach 9 courses per year in WR 121, WR 122, and WR 123.
• Participate in departmental service and program assessment.
• Provide culturally-responsive pedagogy and engage diverse students.
