Job summary

The University of Oregon invites applications for Pro Tem Instructor (English) to teach composition to first-year students in the English Department. The position supports scholarly instruction and inclusive teaching practices. Candidate should hold an M.A.

in English (Rhetoric and Composition) and have experience teaching undergraduate writing; a Ph.D. is preferred. Multimodal pedagogy and Canvas LMS familiarity are valued.

Qualifications

• M.A. in English, Rhetoric and Composition, or a closely related field.
• Three (3) terms or two (2) semesters of experience teaching composition or writing-intensive courses to undergraduates.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate composition courses and, if needed, lower-division literature courses.
• Advise students in office hours and participate in program assessment.
