Job summary

The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc. seeks an Assistant Teaching Professor of Composition at the University of Oregon.

This 9-month, 1.0 FTE appointment begins Sept 16, 2026, teaching WR 121–WR 123 to ~23–25 students per class, three courses per term, nine per year. Responsibilities include teaching and assessing courses, developing inclusive, research-informed pedagogy for first‑year students, and participating in departmental service and program assessment as a member of the Composition

Qualifications

  • MA in Rhetoric and Composition or closely related field.
  • Two years of experience teaching college-level writing to first-year students.
  • Experience collaborating on student-centered, inclusive curriculum design.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and assess three lower-division composition courses per term.
  • Develop inclusive, research-informed pedagogy for first-year students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Participate in departmental service and program assessment activities.
  • Engage in professional development and program development as a member of the Composition Program community.
