Job summary

Connex Education Partnership is seeking patient, compassionate Teaching Assistants to support neurodivergent children across primary schools within Bath & Wells Multi Academy Trust.

You will provide 1:1 or small-group support, help pupils access the curriculum, and collaborate with teachers to create a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Have experience working with children or young people, ideally within a school or education setting.
  • Be patient, empathetic and understanding.
  • Be able to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Be adaptable and able to respond to individual needs.
  • Be confident supporting pupils both independently and as part of a wider team.

Teaching Assistant – Neurodivergent Support

Location: Bath & Wells Multi Academy Schools across BANES
Pay: £95–£110 per day PAYE
Job Type: Full-Time, Part-Time, Temporary, Long-Term & Temp-to-Perm Opportunities
Start Date: Ongoing

Connex Education Partnership is looking for patient, compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistants to support neurodivergent children across primary schools within the Bath & Wells Multi-Academy Trust.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants, SEN professionals and individuals with experience supporting children who are Autistic, have ADHD or have other neurodivergent needs.

We are particularly keen to hear from candidates available full-time, although part-time applicants are encouraged to apply and will be considered depending on school requirements.

The Role

As a Neurodivergent Support Teaching Assistant, you will provide personalised support to help pupils overcome barriers to learning and get the most from their time in school.

You may provide 1:1, small-group or classroom-based support, depending on the individual needs of the pupils.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to neurodivergent pupils
  • Supporting children to access the curriculum and participate in classroom activities
  • Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and social skills
  • Supporting children with communication and interaction difficulties
  • Helping pupils manage sensory needs and emotional regulation
  • Recognising and responding to individual triggers, needs and behaviours
  • Using appropriate strategies to reduce anxiety and support positive engagement
  • Supporting positive behaviour through calm, consistent and nurturing approaches
  • Helping pupils develop routines and independence within the school environment
  • Working alongside teachers, SENCOs and wider school staff
  • Following individual support plans and strategies
  • Creating a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment
The Pupils

You may support children with a range of neurodivergent needs, including:

  • Autism / ASC
  • ADHD
  • Sensory processing differences
  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Social communication difficulties
  • Emotional regulation difficulties
  • Learning difficulties
  • Complex additional needs
  • SEMH needs
What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience working with children or young people, ideally within a school or education setting
  • Ideally have experience supporting neurodivergent children, although this is not essential
  • Be patient, empathetic and understanding
  • Have a calm and consistent approach
  • Be able to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be adaptable and able to respond to individual needs
  • Be confident supporting pupils both independently and as part of a wider team
  • Be committed to promoting inclusion, independence and positive outcomes for children

Full-time availability is preferred, however, part-time applicants are encouraged to apply and will be considered.
