Position Overview

Primary Purpose of Position	The Department of Biology at North Carolina A&T State University, College of Science and Technology, invites applications for a non-tenure track faculty/teaching assistant faculty position starting preferably in August 2025. The hired faculty is expected to show commitment to teaching excellence. She/he is expected to engage in culturally responsive teaching. The primary duties and responsibilities for this position include teaching undergraduate level courses, conducting tutoring and supplemental instruction, and student advising. Engagement in recruitment, curriculum development and conducting scholarly activities are also expected. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, serving on committees, engaging in program assessment and service to the department, College, and University as needed. Administrative duties and responsibilities include collaborative work with faculty to improve programs, develop new programs, and extracurricular opportunities, such as internships; serve as coordinator of multiple section courses, chair committees; assist with recruitment, or serve as advisers to student organizations. Mentoring undergraduate students is also expected. A candidate whose teaching efforts promote the mission of the Biology Department and the strategic vision of the College of Science and Technology (COST) as well as the University is highly desired. Collaboration with colleagues from the sciences, mathematics, and technology areas is encouraged. The Department of Biology currently has 24 full-time faculty members to support the teaching and research needs of our undergraduate and graduate students. The undergraduate enrollment currently is over 835 Biology majors. The MS graduate enrollment averages 15 students, and we train PhD students as part of the AST program in Applied Bioscience with an enrollment of 30 PhD students.
Minimum Requirements	The applicant must have a PhD in the biology related-field area of specialty requested and be able to be credentialed to teach in biology.
