Churchill Special Free School, part of Unity Schools Partnership, seeks a Teaching and Learning Support Assistant to join from September 2026. The role is permanent, 37.831 hours per week across 38 weeks per year, with a salary in USP Grade 3, SP 4-6 (FTE £25,185 - £25,989 / Actual £21,531 - £22,219 per annum).

The school runs two pathways: GCSE and non-GCSE routes, with a teacher and two teaching assistants per class, and a focus on inclusive education and pupil development.

About the school

Churchill Special Free School is part of the Unity Schools Partnership. The school provides a nurturing and inclusive environment for pupils aged 8 to 18 with a range of special educational needs. From September the school will cater for 94 pupils. An ungraded Ofsted inspection in October 2024 confirmed that the school has taken effective action to maintain the outstanding standards identified in the 2019 inspection. Pupils describe the school as a place where they can be themselves and celebrate their neurodiversity.

The role

Churchill Special Free School seeks a Teaching and Learning Support Assistant to join the team from September 2026. The position is permanent, 37.831 hours per week, 38 weeks per year. Salary is USP Grade 3, SP 4-6 (FTE £25,185 - £25,989 / Actual £21,531 - £22,219 per annum).

The school operates two pathways. On the GCSE pathway pupils follow seven GCSE subjects and work towards a high degree of independence with hover support. On the second pathway pupils work approximately three to four years below age-related expectations and pursue non-GCSE accreditation. Each class has a teacher and two teaching assistants.
