Job summary

Luzerne County Head Start is hiring for a role supporting early childhood education for 3- and 4-year-olds. You will promote developmentally appropriate activities and assist the lead teacher in delivering a curriculum aligned with Head Start standards.

Positions run full-time on a school-year schedule (August–June) with a summer break. Earn wages based on education level, with a $750 sign-on bonus and comprehensive benefits including health, retirement, and paid time off.

Qualifications

• AS in ECE or CDA credential, or HS Diploma with CDA/AA within 2 years of hire.
• Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish are a plus.
• Background clearances required; proof of education to meet qualifications.

Responsibilities/Duties:

Implement educational activities by providing and maintaining an atmosphere in the classroom that promotes school readiness and developmentally appropriate practices for 3 and 4-year old children. Assist the Head Start Teacher in planning and carrying out educational activities to meet the National Head Start Program Performance Standards and local plan.

Conditions of Employment
Luzerne County Head Start, Inc. requires staff to possess current, valid Background Clearances (3). Proof of education required to meet the qualifications for position.

FULL TIME, 37.5 hrs/wk- Working a school schedule (10 months) August-June annually, with an established summer break between school years.

Rate of Pay – Based on Education:

AA in ECE Degree – $18.62/hr
CDA – $16.99/hr
HS Diploma/GED – $16.43/hr
For those who possess Bilingual Abilities (Eng/Spanish) – 5% additional pay
