Job summary

WithumSmith+Brown, PC is seeking a Tax Supervisor to join our Chicago or New Jersey offices, leading complex tax work and guiding a team of staff accountants while delivering outstanding client service.

You will prepare and review tax returns for C corps, S corps, partnerships, and high-net-worth individuals, identify planning opportunities, and handle tax controversies as needed. Some travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required.
• Licensed CPA, or working towards CPA certification with parts passed.
• Master’s of Science in Taxation is preferred but not required.
• At least 4 years of public accounting experience.
• Excellent client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing projects.
• Strong leadership, training, and mentoring skills, coupled with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills to represent the Firm well to client’s management.
• Ability to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Preparing complex C corp., S corp., and partnership income tax returns
• Preparing high‑net‑worth individual returns
• Reviewing mid‑level complexity C corp., S corp., and partnership income tax returns
• Reviewing mid‑level complexity individual returns
• Researching and drafting memorandum involving complex tax matters
• Identifying tax planning opportunities
• Handling and resolving tax controversies
• Training and supervising staff accountants
