Job summary

Withum is seeking a Tax Senior to lead complex tax engagements from our Lincolnshire, IL; East Brunswick, NJ; Princeton, NJ; Red Bank, NJ; or Whippany, NJ offices. You will supervise staff, mentor juniors and build client relationships while delivering accurate compliance and tax planning services.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Accounting, CPA (or pursuing), 3–5 years of public accounting tax experience, and strong analytical, communication and leadership skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
• Licensed CPA, or working towards CPA certification
• Masters of Science in Taxation is preferred but not required
• 3-5 years of prior experience in the tax department of a public accounting
• Excellent analytical and technical tax skills
• Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships
• Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing projects in a fast-paced team environment
• Strong leadership, training, and mentoring skills with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
• Excellent analytical, organizational, project management skills, and attention to detail
• Ability to travel as needed

Responsibilities

• Preparing complex individual, trust, partnership and corporate tax returns
• Reviewing mid-level complexity tax returns prepared by staff for accuracy
• Researching and drafting memoranda involving complex tax matters
• Identifying tax planning opportunities
• Handling and resolving tax controversies
• Managing multiple engagements concurrently with various teams to meet client deadlines
• Providing supervision, training and support to engagement staff and promoting open communication to the engagement partner and manager
