Job summary

Hungerford is seeking a Staff Accountant on the Tax team to support individuals and businesses with tax compliance and planning. You will work alongside seasoned professionals to develop technical capabilities and contribute to delivering high-quality client service.

You'll gain exposure to multiple industries, participate in training, and advance toward CPA certification while growing your public accounting career in a supportive, growth-oriented firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field.
• 1+ years of public accounting experience preferred. Internship experience considered.
• CPA eligibility and progress toward CPA certification preferred.
• Foundational understanding of tax concepts and GAAP.

Responsibilities

• Prepare individual, partnership, trust, corporation, and S corporation tax returns.
• Assist with tax planning projects, projections, and research.
• Organize, scan, and maintain client tax documentation.
• Support compliance engagements, including partnership filings and other specialized projects.
• Assist in evaluating tax notices and correspondence.
• Build positive relationships with clients through responsive, professional communication.
• Collaborate with team members to meet client deadlines and deliver quality work.
• Contribute to process improvements and firmwide initiatives.
• Leverage technology and automation tools to improve efficiency and client service.
• Participate in training and professional development opportunities.
