Hungerford, a respected West Michigan firm, seeks a Staff Accountant on our Tax team in Grand Rapids. You will help individuals and businesses navigate tax and compliance while building a foundation for your public accounting career, working alongside experienced professionals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field.
• 1+ year of public accounting experience preferred.
• CPA eligibility and progress toward CPA certification preferred.
• Foundational understanding of tax concepts and GAAP.
• Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and client-service mindset.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and a willingness to learn new technologies.

Responsabilités

• Prepare individual, partnership, trust, corporation, and S corporation tax returns.
• Assist with tax planning projects, projections, and research.
• Organize, scan, and maintain client tax documentation.
• Support compliance engagements, including partnership filings and other specialized projects.
• Assist in evaluating tax notices and correspondence.
• Build positive relationships with clients through responsive, professional communication.
• Collaborate with team members to meet client deadlines and deliver quality work.
• Contribute to process improvements and firmwide initiatives.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field.
• One or more years of public accounting experience preferred. Relevant internship experience will also be considered.
• CPA eligibility and progress toward CPA certification preferred.
• Foundational understanding of tax concepts and accounting principles (GAAP).
• Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Client-service mindset with a desire to build lasting relationships.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
• Adaptability and willingness to work with a variety of clients and industries.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and a willingness to learn new technologies.
