Job description

We are actively hiring for a newly created Tax Senior Associate / Tax Senior Accountant position at our growing CPA firm client, with whom we have a longstanding and excellent relationship. The firm has a laid-back culture, with most workweeks consisting of four days after the busy season. You will report directly to the firm's Tax Manager and mentor, review, and oversee all tax preparation work done by the Tax Staff & Associates (10-15 team members). Currently, the firm employs remote staff.

The firm, based in Washington and established in 1954, offers a broad spectrum of tax and advisory services. They are seeking a career-minded TAX Manager with over 4 years of public accounting experience. There are immediate opportunities for partnership, growth, and development within the firm. Promotions and raises occur twice a year. Tax Seniors may work fully remotely or from one of their four offices in eastern Washington, which also offer work-from-home options. Compensation packages are competitive and include relocation, bonuses, and benefits. During summer months, Fridays off are typically granted.

This firm has experienced significant growth, doubling its revenue over the past 8 years. The position is open due to this expansion. They serve a diverse client base, with peak tax season workload from January to April, focusing on tax preparation, with minimal to no extensions, and the rest of the year dedicated to succession planning and tax strategy.

Responsibilities for the Tax Senior Associate / Tax Accountant

1. Report directly to the firm’s Tax Manager.
2. Review the work of all Tax Staff & Associates.
3. Manage project deadlines and coordinate with team members.
4. Participate in all phases of tax engagements, including review of individual and business tax returns, providing feedback, and ensuring compliance with tax laws.
5. Stay current on tax law changes and best practices.
6. Contribute to process improvements and practice development activities.

Qualifications for the Tax Senior Associate / Tax Accountant

1. CPA certification or in progress; the firm covers all CPA study materials and exam costs.
2. At least 2 years of public accounting experience preparing and reviewing individual and business taxes.
