Job summary

Sora Resource Group in Phoenix seeks a hands-on Tax Manager to own the income tax function. You will lead the tax provision for financial reporting, oversee return preparation with preparers and staff, and coach a team of tax accountants.

You will drive process design, controls, and efficiency across the tax function. Ideal candidates have the equivalent of a Bachelor's in Accounting with 6+ years of tax experience in public accounting or corporate environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• 6+ years of tax experience in public accounting or a corporate environment.
• Strong federal, state, and local tax knowledge.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Interpersonal and communication abilities.
• CPA, Master's in Taxation, or related industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop tax accountants through coaching, supervision, and feedback.
• Own the quarterly and annual ASC 740 tax provision.
• Oversee federal and state income tax return calculations and filings.
• Review FIN 48 and UNICAP positions.
• Respond to notices and inquiries from taxing authorities.
• Work with internal and external auditors.
• Research tax information for management and external parties.
• Support related areas (sales, property, payroll taxes, incentives).
• Map and re-engineer tax processes to improve efficiency and controls.
