Job summary

H&R Block is hiring a Tax Associate for an in-person, apprenticeship-style role in San Marcos, Texas. You will review client tax situations with a Client Care Specialist, while leveraging advanced technology to prepare accurate returns and provide personalized advice.

Successful candidates will complete the H&R Block Income Tax Course, communicate clearly, and continuously build tax knowledge to better serve clients. Evening/weekend availability during busy periods is common.

Qualifications

Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course.
Experience interacting with customers or clients in a service-oriented environment.
Strong communication skills, including explaining information clearly and asking questions to understand needs.
Problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions.
Comfort using digital tools and AI-based tools such as Copilot and ChatGPT.
High school diploma / GED / equivalent.

Responsibilities

Review client tax situations and provide clear advice and guidance.
Partner with a Client Care Specialist to gather client information and focus on accuracy.
Use H&R Block technology to prepare returns while reviewing results for accuracy.
Identify tax savings opportunities through open-ended questions and client needs.
Recommend relevant products and services based on client needs and questions.
Continue training to grow tax knowledge and client service skills.
Build client relationships through teamwork and a client-first approach.
