Job summary

H&R Block in the United States is seeking a Tax Associate for an apprenticeship-style role. You’ll review each client’s tax situation with guidance from a Client Care Specialist and leverage advanced technology to prepare returns while focusing on accuracy and personalized advice.

This in-person role offers training, coaching, and opportunities to build client relationships, with availability during tax season and evenings/weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course or equivalent tax training.
• Experience interacting with customers in a service-oriented environment.
• Strong communication skills, including explaining information clearly and asking questions to understand needs.
• Problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions.
• Comfort using digital tools and systems as well as AI-based tools such as Copilot and ChatGPT.
• High school diploma / GED / equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Partner with a dedicated Client Care Specialist to gather client information and review each client’s tax situation.
• Leverage H&R Block technology to prepare returns while focusing on accuracy and personalized advice.
• Ask open-ended questions and listen actively to understand client needs and identify tax savings opportunities.
• Recommend relevant products and services based on client needs and questions.
• Apply problem-solving skills to analyze client information with guidance and resources.
• Continue building tax knowledge through ongoing training to serve clients effectively.
