Job summary

H&R Block, Inc. is seeking a year-round Block Advisor Tax Advisor to prepare complete returns for individuals and businesses and deliver personalized tax guidance in person at a local Block Advisors office.

You will interview clients, identify tax savings opportunities, and provide clear recommendations while working with a collaborative team and leveraging our training and technology to support accurate, efficient service.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment.
• 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping.
• Experience preparing complex individual and business returns, including tax planning, audit support, and tax notice resolution.
• Experience working in a client-facing, consultative, or advisory role.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain tax concepts clearly to clients.
• Must complete continuing education and meet IRS and state requirements.
• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex tax situations, including individual and business returns.
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations, life changes, and tax implications; provide clear, personalized recommendations.
• Build long-term client relationships by delivering empathetic, consultative service and identifying tax savings opportunities and related Block Advisors products and services.
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance to clients as needed.
• Collaborate with team members, share knowledge, and contribute to a positive, client-focused office environment.
