Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a year-round Block Advisor (Tax Advisor) to prepare complex tax returns for individuals and businesses and to conduct in-depth client interviews for personalized recommendations. This in-person role emphasizes building lasting client relationships and delivering empathetic, consultative service.

You will provide IRS support, audit guidance, and tax notice resolution, collaborating with a team in a local Block Advisors office.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment.
• 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping.
• Experience preparing complex individual and business returns, including tax planning, audit support, and tax notice resolution.
• Client-facing, consultative or advisory role experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication; ability to explain tax concepts clearly.
• Must meet IRS/state requirements and complete continuing education.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for individuals and businesses.
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations and tax implications; provide personalized recommendations.
• Identify tax savings opportunities and Block Advisors products/services; build year-round client relationships.
• Provide IRS assistance, tax notice support, and audit guidance as needed.
• Collaborate with team members to maintain a positive, client-focused office environment.
