Job summary

H&R Block, Inc. is seeking a year-round Block Advisor, Tax Advisor, to prepare accurate returns for individuals and businesses, conduct client interviews to assess financial situations, and deliver personalized recommendations.

This in-person role supports clients with tax planning and year-round servicing, backed by training, technology, and an incentive plan. You'll build lasting client relationships, identify tax savings opportunities, and provide IRS support and audit guidance as needed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping.
• Experience preparing complex individual returns and business returns, including tax planning, audit support, and tax notice resolution.
• Experience in a client-facing, consultative, or advisory role.
• Must complete continuing education and meet IRS/state requirements.
• High school diploma / GED / equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex tax situations, including individual and business returns.
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations, life changes, and tax implications — then provide clear, personalized recommendations.
• Build trusted, year-round client relationships by delivering empathetic, consultative service and identifying tax savings opportunities and relevant Block Advisors products and services.
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance to clients as needed.
• Collaborate with team members, share knowledge, and contribute to a positive, client-focused office environment.
