Job summary

H&R Block, Inc. is seeking a Block Advisor Tax Advisor to prepare complete and accurate tax returns for clients with complex situations, including individuals and businesses.

You will conduct in-depth interviews, provide personalized recommendations, and build lasting client relationships in a local Block Advisors office. You will deliver empathetic, consultative service, identify tax savings opportunities, and support clients with IRS notices and audit guidance.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment.
• 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping.
• Experience preparing complex individual and business tax returns, including planning and audit support.
• Experience in client-facing, consultative, or advisory roles.
• Strong verbal and written communication; ability to explain tax concepts clearly.
• Must complete continuing education and meet IRS/state requirements.
• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse tax situations (individuals and businesses).
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations and tax implications; provide personalized recommendations.
• Build year-round client relationships with empathetic, consultative service and identify tax savings opportunities and Block Advisors products.
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance as needed.
• Collaborate with team members and contribute to a positive, client-focused office environment.
