Job summary

TACOS DEL BARRIO in Chicago is hiring for fast, dependable back-of-house team members to join our taquería concept.

We seek cooks who take pride in great food, clean stations, and teamwork. Experience in taquería, Mexican kitchen, or high-volume settings is preferred. Spanish-speaking candidates are especially welcome. Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts may be required. Illinois Food Handler Certification or willingness to obtain it is expected.

Qualifications

• Spanish-speaking preferred and proven ability to communicate clearly in a fast-paced kitchen.
• Experience in taquería or Mexican kitchen environments is preferred.
• Illinois Food Handler Certification or willingness to obtain it is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare tacos, meats, tortillas, salsas, garnishes, rice, beans and other items.
• Work grill, plancha, fryer, prep, taco assembly and other kitchen stations.
• Follow recipes and portion standards consistently.
• Keep stations clean, stocked and organized for service.
• Execute orders quickly and accurately during high-volume periods.
• Prepare proteins, vegetables, sauces and mise en place.
• Follow food-safety, labeling, dating and storage procedures.
• Complete opening, prep and closing duties.
• Communicate shortages, delays, allergies or quality issues immediately.
• Support other kitchen team members as needed.
