Southwest Economic Solutions in Channelview, TX is seeking a tanker trailer technician to perform external and internal visual inspections, pressure and leak tests on DOT specified tankers, and to test hazardous material certified tanks. You will inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical or electrical systems on trailers, with knowledge of air brakes and ABS.

TIG/MIG welding skills are valuable, and an apprentice program is available.

Qualifications

• Inspect tanks and trailers to DOT HM183 standards.
• Diagnose failures and repair mechanical/electrical systems on trailers.
• Tank service and repair.
• Knowledge of air brake systems and repairs.
• Working knowledge of ABS systems.
• TIG/MIG welding experience (aluminum, stainless, or carbon).
• Willing to train through an apprentice program.

Responsibilities

• Perform external and internal visual inspections, pressure and leak tests on DOT specified tankers.
• Test tankers including hazardous material certified tanks (e.g., vac trucks, oil tankers).

Description

As a tanker trailer technician for cargo tank repair and testing your primary responsibilities are to perform external visual, internal visual, pressure, and leak tests on DOT specified tankers. You will also be responsible for tank testing on Hazardous Material certified tanks such as vac trucks, hydro excavators, oil tankers, guzzlers, tanker trailers, cargo tanks and more.

Demonstrated skill in most of the following areas:

• Ability to effectively and efficiently inspect tanks and trailers to align with DOT standards (HM183, hazmat)
• The ability to diagnose failures and make repairs on mechanical, electrical, or other various systems on a trailer
• Tank service and repair
• Knowledge of air brake systems and repairs
• A working knowledge ABS systems
• TIG/MIG aluminum, stainless or carbon welding experience
• Willing to train through our apprentice program

Experience:

• Tank Valve Repair or Replacement: 1 year (preferred)
• Tanker Air Systems Repair: 1 year (preferred)
• Tank Trailer Repair: 1 year (preferred)
• Trailer Brake System Repair: 1 year (preferred)
• Trailer Electrical Lighting Repair: 1 year (preferred)
• Trailer Suspension Repair: 1 year (preferred)
• MIG Welding: 1 year (preferred)
• TIG Welding: 1 year (preferred)
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Legally eligible to work in the United State
• Able to pass a background check
• Able to pass a drug screen

Schedule:

• Monday – Friday
• 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
• 40 hours of pay minimum (1.5 pay after 40 hours)
