Job summary

Phillips Tank & Structure is hiring a full-time Tank Builder / Welder in the Pittsburgh area to join a growing nationwide team. The role emphasizes safe, quality tank fabrication, welding, and structural work on above-ground storage tanks and related structures.

Candidates should have strong communication and organization skills, ability to lift 50 lbs, and a willingness to learn. US work eligibility and the ability to pass background and drug testing are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Solid communication and organization skills.
• Willingness to learn and lift up to 50 lbs with safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform arc and torch cutting and gouging.
• Operate generators, compressors, tuggers, blowers, grinders, and similar tools.
• Weld plates with 7018, 7024, 6010 SMAW, FCAW, and submerged arc processes.
• Use come-alongs, hydraulic jacks, hoists, air bags, winches, and other lifting gear.
• Work with tank shell buggies, scaffolding, ladders and related equipment.
• Conduct non-destructive tests such as vacuum box, oil, and dye penetrant tests.
• Follow safety protocols with gas monitors, respirators, and rescue kits.
• Read erection and fabrication drawings; plan welding and assembly sequence.
