Job summary

Midland States Bank invites applications for a Talent Acquisition Intern in Effingham, IL. You will support the Talent Acquisition team with high-volume retail recruiting, gaining exposure to the full lifecycle within the banking industry.

The role requires enrollment in an HR/Business/Organizational Leadership program with at least two years completed, and the ability to work a 40-hour week on-site in Effingham. You will learn recruiting processes, data handling, and collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• Internship runs Summer 2027 from mid-May to early August.
• Able to work a 40-hour week, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
• Must reside local to Effingham, IL and report to the Effingham office.
• Enrolled in a Human Resources, Business, Organizational Leadership, or related degree program with at least 2 years completed.
• Demonstrates strong teamwork, communication, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Review resumes and applications to support retail recruiting across the Bank's branch network.
• Conduct candidate phone screens using established recruiting processes and guidelines.
• Coordinate and schedule candidate interviews and maintain timely communication throughout the process.
• Maintain accurate candidate data within the applicant tracking system and support recruiting-related data needs.
• Participate in Talent Acquisition team meetings and hiring manager discussions, gaining exposure to recruiting technology, onboarding, and data-driven decisions.
• Perform other duties as assigned and ensure compliance with regulations including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
