Job summary

Midland States Bank is seeking a Finance Intern in Effingham, IL to support the Accounting and FP&A teams. You will assist with daily accounting tasks, reconciliations, budgeting, and forecasting, gaining broad exposure to corporate finance within banking.

The internship runs Summer 2027 (mid-May to early August). You will work a 40-hour week, Monday–Friday, at the Effingham office, with opportunities to learn systems and contribute to projects across the finance function.

Qualifications

• Internship duration: Summer 2027 (mid-May to early August).
• 40-hour work week, Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
• Must reside local to Effingham, IL and report to Effingham office.
• Enrolled in Accounting, Finance, or related business degree with at least 2 years completed.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and adaptability are required.
• Excellent written and oral communication; ability to learn new software.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily accounting functions and account reconciliations.
• Support month-end and quarter-end close activities.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Participate in quarterly financial reporting processes.
• Support finance-related system implementations and process improvements.
• Complete special projects for the Finance department and collaborate with FP&A teams.
• Maintain compliance with applicable regulations.
