Job summary

Midland States Bank is seeking an IT Infrastructure Intern in Effingham, IL for Summer 2027. The role supports the Infrastructure Department with recurring tasks and special projects, including documentation, hardware replacement, server maintenance, and automation efforts.

The internship runs for part of the summer, requiring a 40-hour work week, Mon-Fri, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Candidate must reside near Effingham, IL and be enrolled in an IT-related degree with at least 2 years completed.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Cybersecurity.
• 2+ years of completed coursework required.
• Familiarity with scripting and basic IT concepts is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with infrastructure documentation and inventory.
• Assist with hardware replacement and configuration.
• Support server maintenance, patching and lifecycle projects.
• Contribute to technology refresh initiatives across the bank footprint.
• Gain exposure to networking, cloud, security, storage, and automation.
• Assist with scripting/automation to improve routine tasks.
• Shadow Infrastructure team and collaborate with IT and business units.
• Maintain regulatory compliance including BSA.
