Job summary

KBR's TACOM (SIAD) program seeks an Air Conditioning Mechanic to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems in support of military vehicle and facility readiness. Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems, including air conditioners, compressors, chillers, and ventilation systems
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate tools and testing equipment
  • Perform preventive maintenance in accordance with technical manuals, SOPs, and maintenance schedules
  • Repair or replace components such as motors, compressors, coils, fans, filters, thermostats, and control systems
  • Conduct system performance testing and operational checks to verify functionality and efficiency
  • Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals
  • Charge, recover, and handle refrigerants in compliance with environmental regulations
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, service logs, and work documentation
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards
  • Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow lockout/tagout procedures
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Coordinate with supervisors, facility personnel, and other maintenance staff regarding system status and repairs
  • Support inspections, audits, and government reviews as required

Title: TACOM (SIAD): HVAC Mechanic (Contingency)

Program Summary

The U.S. Army Tank‑automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) sustains the Army’s mission to develop, acquire, field, and sustain ground combat, tactical, and support systems throughout their lifecycle. The program focuses on ensuring operational readiness, reliability, and safety of automotive and ground support equipment critical to Army operations. Under this contract, personnel provide maintenance, repair, overhaul, and sustainment support in accordance with Army technical manuals, safety standards, and performance requirements.

Job Summary

The Air Conditioning Mechanic (HVAC Mechanic) performs installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and refrigeration systems in support of TACOM operations. This role ensures all environmental control systems are fully operational to support mission readiness of military vehicles, facilities, and equipment. This position is contingent upon award.

Roles and Responsibilities

Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; supplemental technical or vocational training preferred
  • Typically 3-5 years of experience maintaining and repairing HVAC or refrigeration systems
  • Working knowledge of HVAC/R systems, electrical controls, and mechanical components
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Experience using diagnostic and service tools for HVAC systems
  • EPA Section 608 Certification (or ability to obtain)
  • Ability to perform work in physically demanding environments
  • Ability to obtain or maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (as required)
  • U.S. citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience supporting DoD, Army, or TACOM programs
  • Experience maintaining HVAC systems in industrial or maintenance environments
  • Familiarity with building automation or environmental control systems
  • Prior government contracting experience
Salary

The salary range for this position is $59,600 - $89,400. Compensation offered will depend on qualifications, experience, work location, and business considerations. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. Additional compensation and benefits may be available based on role eligibility.

Additional Information

This position will be a part of a physical work environment that requires standing, walking, and lifting. There is potential exposure to machinery, tools, fuels, oils, and outdoor conditions. Employees may also be required to work shifts, overtime, or weekend support based on mission needs.
