Job summary

Valley Health is seeking a Professional Development Specialist for the Emergency Dept. & Behavioral Health in Winchester, VA.

This advanced NPD role designs, standardizes, and evaluates system-wide education strategies and competency frameworks to improve clinical quality and staff readiness. You will partner with leaders and frontline educators to translate priorities into scalable learning, governance, and resource-efficient programs across the organization.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in nursing or related field is required.
• 5 years of recent clinical, educational, or nursing leadership experience is required.
• 3+ years of NPD or nursing education experience is preferred.
• NPD-BC certification is preferred and required within 18 months of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Leads system-wide education strategy, governance, and design.
• Develops standardized curricula and competency frameworks across the health system.
• Ensures regulatory compliance and survey readiness of educational programs.
• Oversees competency validation, onboarding, and transition-to-practice initiatives.
• Monitors KPIs and dashboards to drive quality, safety, and efficiency.
