Job summary

Valley Health in Winchester, VA, seeks a Professional Development Specialist to design, standardize, and evaluate educational strategies and competency frameworks across the system. You will lead governance for education programs to ensure quality, regulatory compliance, and efficient resource use.

The role partners with executives, educators, and frontline staff to translate priorities into scalable learning and workforce development solutions that improve clinical quality, safety, and staff

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in nursing or related field is required.
• NPD-BC certification is preferred within hire timeframe.
• BLS certification is required.
• Licensed or eligible to practice in Virginia with multi-state license.

Responsibilities

• Lead system-wide education strategy, governance, and design across Valley Health entities.
• Develop and sustain standardized curricula and competency frameworks.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and survey readiness of educational programs.
• Measure and monitor education outcomes, time-to-productivity, and staff retention.
• Collaborate with executives, educators, and frontline staff to translate priorities into learning initiatives.

Education

Master’s degree in nursing or related field

NPD-BC certification (preferred)

BLS certification

Virginia/West Virginia nursing licensure eligibility
