Job summary

The Space and Geophysics Laboratory at the University of Texas at Austin seeks a Systems Engineering Process Engineering Scientist to drive requirements, designs, and lifecycle management for GNSS-related projects at the Pickle Research Campus.

You will lead systems engineering processes, guide decomposition into work units, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with government partners and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in science, applied science, or engineering.
• Three years of relevant professional work experience developing systems requirements and designs.
• Ability to design, develop, evaluate, and support large, complex systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication across diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Elicit systems scope and requirements from stakeholders for use in systems designs.
• Develop, document, and refine systems engineering processes including requirements management and traceability.
• Lead backlog management and decomposition of projects into actionable units.
• Communicate work processes, products, and results to stakeholders through reports and briefs.
• Coordinate with stakeholders across the life-cycle from definition to deployment.
• Perform engineering estimates, guide project schedules, and identify dependencies.
• Mentor junior staff, technicians, and students.
