Job summary

The Space and Geophysics Laboratory at The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Data Engineering Systems Engineering Scientist to join a team delivering GNSS data processing and storage capabilities for government sponsors.

You will elicit requirements, translate them into system designs, guide architectural decomposition, and work with engineers and researchers from an array of disciplines to implement robust data pipelines and interfaces across the life cycle.

Qualifications

  • Degree in science, engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience developing systems requirements and designs.
  • Ability to design, evaluate, and support large, complex systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication for diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.

Responsibilities

  • Elicit system scope and requirements for data acquisition, processing, and retention.
  • Develop system designs including data models, pipelines, storage, interfaces.
  • Document work products and present to stakeholders.
  • Participate in Agile backlog management and project decomposition.
  • Mentor staff and collaborate across a multidisciplinary team.
