Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Design Assurance Systems Engineering Scientist to lead design assurance activities for GNSS-enabled mission-essential systems. You will elicit requirements, guide system design, and support certification processes within the Space and Geophysics Laboratory.

Ideal candidates have strong communication, experience with safety-critical systems, and a track record in Agile environments, with eligibility for access to classified information.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in science, applied science, or engineering.
• Three years of relevant work experience developing systems requirements and designs.
• Experience with design assurance or safety/certification for technical systems.
• Ability to communicate complex technical detail to diverse stakeholders.
• U.S. citizenship and eligibility for access to classified information.

Responsibilities

• Elicit system scope and requirements from stakeholders for design and certification.
• Perform Functional Hazard Analysis allocations and define safety interfaces.
• Identify evidence for DA levels and map to objectives.
• Communicate progress and results through reports and briefs to stakeholders.
• Participate in Agile processes and decompose projects into actionable units.
• Provide DA engineering analysis and DA reviews including gap analysis.
